Disney: Little Girls Don’t Matter

Remember when Disney changed the name of Rapunzel to Tangled because they wanted to appeal to “a wider audience”—that they feared little boys wouldn’t want to come see the film? Now the company is saying that it’s decided to abandon all plans for future fairy tales so boys will continue to watch them—since these fairy tale films seem to only appeal to “little girls.” Apparently Disney thinks that little girls don’t matter—especially considering that the main characters in all of their movies, aside from the fairy tales, are boys. Who do we see in Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and any other princess movie?
